So I am by no means a professional cake maker or decorator (I cant even draw stick figures!) but I also like making everything myself for special occasions. This past Saturday I asked my then girlfriend to marry me and then my fiance and I celebrated with a Harry Potter themed cake to compliment a Harry Potter themed proposal. So I bought this set to help me make that cake. I ended up with something sweet and romantic but not amazon review worthy lol The set has so many pieces if you are a beginner it might be overwhelming (it was to me, I don't know what half the things in this set are for). That being said, I am trying to learn and became excellent and this set is the best starter set in the world for that. Because anything you might come across needing, is in the kit. The icing smoother (no idea what its called) combined with the spinning base alone set up cake game up 100 points. There are a massive number of icing tips to achieve any conceivable decoration, also a really cool set up.

pros:
1. anything you could ever want and then some
2. if you have no cake decorating items, you now have probably close to all
3. just having the right tools sets you up for more success than youve been having. icing spreader and spinning stand > knife or spoon spreading icing every day.
4. the included tools actually seem pretty high quality for the price
cons:
1. having tools doesnt make you good at using them
2. It could come with more directions or at least a part list that names what tools are included and what theyre called so you could seek out your own instruction.

I just received this today and I was eager to use it. However, as I'm writing this review I currently have a hot mess going on in the oven. I washed the pan I was going to use and I put the nonstick spray and cake batter and into the oven it went. After a few minutes I noticed a burning smell so I went to the kitchen. THE BATTER IS LEAKING OUT OF THE PAN! My whole oven is filled with batter and oil. I tried out the other pans to see if maybe I just didn't latch it on correctly after cleaning it but even the pans I hadn't unlatched are leaking like crazy! I posted a few pictures showing with water how much they leak. I didn't expect this to happen since many reviewers said they didn't leak for them. I am very sad that this happened and am debating contacting the seller to see if I can get just the pans replaced since everything else in the set is fabulous! If not I might have to just return it :( not a good day.

Made my birthday cake with this cake I am a beginner at cake decorating and I had a great time using this kit. Everything was easy to use the piping tip guide was helpful and the kit was easy to clean . If your a beginner and plan to make a special cake I recommend having a few hours to spare to make your cake . I assume you get faster at cake decorating as you get more practice. I really like this kit . The pans are sturdy and I didnt have any issues with leaking cake batter. My cake batter was on the thicker side. But even during washing water didn't slip through . Also if you get this kit it only comes with one cake board that is about the size of the large cake pan. So if you want to stack your cake buy another smaller cake board.

Overall I love this kit so far. However there are a couple things I dislike. First, there are people out there that don't know this but the spring fform pans are not meant for baking cakes. These specific type pans are made for tarts, cheese cakes and other crusted yummies. You can use for regular cakes but you have to go through the process of making it leak free. This is one of many things not specified. Second, there is not specifications on the tips provided just general description on what you can do and makes it difficult to figure out as a beginner because the numbers are different than charts you find online. Third, you cant find info on the company where this kit came from so I could find more items such as a detailed chart on tips and nozzles. They need to add more info sheets in this kit.

very good for beginners. i used two pans to make it tier and used the pipes for the lions mane. i used the silicone heart shapes for the nose and cheeks and everything that came with it isn't pretty easy to use. just make sure your pans are closed all the way when you put the batter in and make sure you have something to go under the pans in the over just incase it drips

I love to cook and bake. My baking might be delicious, but I lack in decorating skills. I've been wanting to work on them, but knew I needed the proper tools. I was stunned by some of the prices for this stuff individually, so I started looking at kits. I like the mixture of basic items and more specialty ones. The scrapers, bags, and tips are what I'm looking forward to perfecting (or at least greatly improving) my skills with. So far I've used the chocolate mold and worked on piping "grass" on cupcakes. Still have a ways to go. The chocolate came out devine and the cupcake decorating was a C minus...lol. Next up, I'm going to attempt decorating mini cakes. Wish me luck.

Really can't say much about the product because it is a Christmas gift. But I can say that it arrived in a bigger plain box. When I opened the first box, the item had been smashed around and completely out of its box. There are many pieces to this kit which were everywhere !!! I managed to squeeze it all back into it's box but the entire box had to be taped together!! What a mess. Hope the item works much better than it's packaging!
